Patrick Stephen Bishop, the oldest child of John and Hanora Bishop of ‘Deep Creek’ Maidenwell Queensland, was born on 26 December 1902. His brother George was born in 1906 and his sister Mary in 1911.
Pat attended Peron State School and on leaving school continued to help his parents run the farm.
At the age of 15 he was helping his Uncle Pat yard horses when his horse put its foot in a hole and threw Pat against a nearby tree. Pat suffered from a broken pelvis and various other internal injuries from the accident.
Pat was taken to Toowoomba in his Uncle Martin’s 1915 Overlander motor car and spent some time in hospital there before succumbing to his injuries on 17 November 1918.
He is buried in the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery and was remembered by his cousin Kitty O’Brien as a bright intelligent boy.
